Tribromoisocyanuric Acid and DABCO-Br as Efficient Catalysts for the Silylation of Hydroxyl Groups with Hexamethyldisilazane

Abstract: A good range of primary, secondary, tertiary alcohols, and phenolic hydroxyl g ro ups were effectively converted into their corresponding trimethylsilyl ethers wi th hexamethyldisilazane in the presence of catalytic amounts of tribromoisocyanu ric acid and DABCO-bromine under mild conditions at room temperature with short reaction times in good to excellent yields.
