Abstract: The alkylation of propane with benzene over Pt catalysts supported on different zeolites was studied. Pt/HZSM-5 shows much higher selectivity for alkylbenzene than other catalysts. With increasing Pt loading from 0 to 0.3%, the conversion of propane and the selectivity for C9 and C10+ aromatics increase, whereas the selectivity for non-aromatics decreases. The effects of the reaction temperature, space velocity, and benzene/propane molar ratio on the alkylation of propane with benzene over Pt/HZSM-5 zeolite were investigated. Low reaction temperature, high space velocity, and high benzene/propane molar ratio favor the formation of alkylbenzene.
