Abstract: The synthesis of cyclic carbonate from carbon dioxide and epoxides is one of t he most effective routes for chemical utilization of carbon dioxide as a C1 buildi ng block. The latest progress in the synthesis of cyclic carbonate from carbon d ioxide and epoxides was reviewed and the catalytic reaction mechanism was discus sed.

Key words: carbon dioxide, epoxide, cyclic carbonate, ionic liquid
