Abstract: The keystone of photocatalysis research is the design of highly efficient photocatalysts. This paper describes the applications of supercritical treatment, alcoholysis, evaporation induced self-assembly, and aerogel drying methods in the preparation of various titania and non-titania photocatalysts with tailored structures. The correlation of the catalytic properties to the structural characteristics is discussed briefly, which shows that theuniquecomposition, structure, and morphology play key roles in enhancing the photocatalytic performance.

Key words: supercritical treatment, alcoholysis, evaporation induced self-assembly, aerogel drying, TiO2-based photocatalyst, nontitania photocatalyst
