Abstract: Fishbone carbon nanofibers (FCNFs) from different carbon sources (CO, CH4, and C2H4) possess similar fishbone structure but quite different physicochemical properties. The supported Pd catalysts (0.5%) present various activity for tere phthalic acid (TA) hydro-purification. It is believed that rather than the grap hene arrangement, the synergic support effect dictates the Pd dispersion on FCNF and the consequent catalytic activity.

Key words: palladium catalyst, fishbone carbon nanofiber, support effect, terephthalic acid, hydropurification
