Abstract: Nanosized colloidal platinum was prepared by reduction of H2PtCl6 in the pre sence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in a methanol-water mixture by refluxing. T he sample showed high catalytic activity for acetylene hydrogenation. The PVP mo lecular mass, their concentration, and reduction time have effects on Pt particle size and catalytic activity.
