Abstract: Nanoparticle (NP) catalysts weaken chemical bonds upon adsorption of A and B rea ctants, but unsupported or supported NPs still require electromagnetic (EM) ener gy to complete the reaction. Quantum electrodynamics (QED) provides this EM ener gy by inducing the absorbed thermal kT energy of A and B molecules accumulat ed i n collisions with the NPs to be emitted as vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) radiation, t he product AB forming by QED induced VUV photolysis.
