Abstract: Combined with the reforming catalyst Ni/Al2O3, Pt/Al2O3 was found to be a suitable partial oxidation catalyst. Al2O3 as support gave better performance than MgO or ZrO2. The optimized Pt loading on Al2O3 was 0.5%, and the optimized reduction temperature and reaction temperature were both 700 oC. H2 yield of 80% was obtained and DME conversion was kept at 100%.

Key words: dimethyl ether, partial oxidation, reforming, hydrogen production, platinum, alumina, supported catalyst
