Abstract: Recent progress of research on the synthesis and reforming of dimethoxymethane (DMM) is reviewed. DMM could be synthesized directly via the selective oxidation of methanol over acidic and redox bi-functional catalysts, and then reformed to produce H2 for fuel cells over a complex catalyst consisting of a traditional Cu-ZnO/γ-Al2O3 and an acidic carbon material.

Key words: dimethoxymethane, reforming, bi-functional catalyst, surface acidity modification, acidic carbon material, hydrogen
