Abstract: Titanium dioxide nanomaterials play important roles in many renewable energy applications under the irradiation of natural sunlight: they decompose pollutants into CO2, split water into hydrogen, and generate electricity with the assistance of organic dyes. The recent developments in the synthesis and modifications of titanium dioxide nanomateirals have largely promoted their advance in the energy applications.

Key words: titanium dioxide, nanomaterial, doping, sensitizing, photocatalysis, photovoltaics, solar water splitting
