Abstract: A MoO3 catalyst for the transesterification of phenyl acetate and dimethyl carbonate to diphenyl carbonate was prepared by calcination. The MoO3 calcined at 400 or 500 oC was an excellent catalyst, and it can be reused many times and regenerated simply by calcination while maintaining catalytic activity almost as high as the fresh sample.

Key words: molybdenum trioxide, transesterification, dimethyl carbonate, phenyl acetate, diphenyl carbonate
