Abstract: In the direct oxidation of ethylene to acetic acid, the polytungstates on Pd/WO3-ZrO2 were responsible for the activity of the reaction. Well-dispersed Pd species were responsible for high selectivity for acetic acid, and large metallic Pd particles were favorable for ethylene combustion.
