Abstract: Gold nanoparticles in the channels of disulfide functionalized periodic mesoporous organosilica were used as the catalyst for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol by aqueous t-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP). A benzyl alcohol conversion of 29.1% with 100% selectivity for benzaldehyde was achieved, and the catalyst could be conveniently recovered and recycled.
