Abstract: The surface chemical reactivity of the SiO2/Fe3O4 support was modified through heat treatment in an ethanol/water solution via refluxing. The increase in the content of surface hydroxyls on magnetic silica support after modification enhanced the loading of the TiO2 nanocatalyst and the photocatalytic activity towards photodegradation of Procion red MX-5B.
