Abstract: The K2MoO4-NiO/SiO2 catalyst samples were thermally treated under different conditions. The catalyst calcined in N2 exhibited higher catalytic activity for synthesis of methanethiol than that calcined in air owing to the more Mo–S–K phase generated on the catalyst surface.
